    CTA Independence Cross Country (7 week Program- Twice a Week) Program Description: Lace up those sneakers—it’s time to have fun while building stamina and endurance! Join Mrs. Flores as she introduces students to the exciting world of cross-country running. This program is a great way to train before the Running Club season kicks off! Students will learn running techniques, practice fun drills, try interval training, and discover how to warm up like the pros. Each runner will track their mile time, set personal goals, and explore strategies to improve—all in a positive, supportive setting. No worries if you can’t make every practice—just come when you can and enjoy the journey! Optional Bonus: Interested students can participate in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk in Tempe on September 14th! Parents must register their child for the event and attend with them.     Fierce Spirit Cheer is a one of a kind after-school program focusing on the fundamentals of cheerleading while building the confidence of the youth today with a safe, positive environment. We provide structured, fun-filled classes to Elementary students ages 5 to 12. Fierce Spirit Cheer is dedicated to making this an exciting atmosphere for students to learn the sport of cheerleading. We have with each session exciting new material taught building fun, creative cheer, dance, stunts, and tumbling routines that are showcased for the final session Parent Performance. Classes begin right after school. Fierce Spirit Cheer focuses on the fundamentals of cheerleading. Just like any sport, athletes must start learning the skills at a young age if they plan on cheering at a high school or college level. Fierce Spirit Cheer takes students with no experience and those with experience. We work all skill levels into our tumbling routines, cheers & dances so that every student is actively involved. Fierce Spirit Cheer incorporates dances and cheers that are taught into amazing routines. Most importantly, we promote self-esteem, self-confidence, pride, and school spirit! ALL students first enroll on a waitlist - the waitlist does NOT mean the testing session is full. ** WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY IN DISTRICT 2ND GRADERS FOR TESTING THE MONTHS OF AUGUST - APRIL since testing will be held in classrooms in the month of October. Provided: A journal and journal kit will be provided to each student. Also provided each week, themed ephemeras, stickers, and other journal accessories. Students do not need to bring anything but their creativity! Special Instructions: Parents are responsible for arranging transportation for students before school.
