    Spring Programs: ABSi Spanish Club Session One: In our first session, we’ll dive into the fun world of Spanish by exploring basics like numbers, colors, shapes, and some handy phrases like "Me llamo" (My name is), "Hola, ¿cómo estás?" (Hi, how are you?), and "¿Cómo se dice?" along with other great conversation starters! This class will be super interactive, with lots of exciting activities like playing "lotería"/bingo, singing catchy songs, and even making a piñata together. ABSi Spanish Club Session Two: In session two, students will review key concepts like numbers, colors, and greetings, while primarily expanding their vocabulary of fruits and vegetables. We’ll cover the basics of feminine and masculine articles, as well as how to express likes and dislikes. Activities will include engaging games, movement on musical mats, and creating miniature foods with modeling clay. All classes are non-refundable.     Spring Programs: Game Design and Animation with Scratch, Python & JavaScript: Embark on an unparalleled adventure with our Game Design and Animation Class - a unique, project-based learning experience that infuses the charm of storytelling with the power of coding. This course is meticulously designed to spark the inherent creativity in young minds and foster their innovative storytelling and game designing capabilities. Junior Alchemists: Chemistry for Kids- is designed to not only pique an interest in scientific inquiry, but to introduce students to a deeper understanding of its development and application. We allow them to see the basic principles of science in the world around them. The course is focused on a number of experiments; they are tons of fun, visually appealing, and can safely be reproduced at home for friends and family. Olympic Chess: Learn chess with Athena! We’ve designed a high-energy, stimulating approach to chess that is great for all ages. Classes are typically divided into different skill levels. Students will spend much of their time playing each other and challenging the instructor. At the beginning of each class, we have a brief question and answer session on a certain topic, challenging students with exercises and puzzles. Students learn piece types, movements, captures, positioning, basic strategy, and move on to advanced topics such as openings, pins, forks, and skewers, Middle and Endgame strategy and tactics, and chess variants. Each class ends in a tournament where the winner takes home a trophy! Minecraft Coding and Design Studio: Minecraft isn't just the world's most popular game; it's also an excellent tool for teaching a wide array of subjects. At Athena, we've developed a project based approach to a variety of important topics using Minecraft Educational; our course will cover Personalized Game Design, Animation and storytelling, Programming in Python and Javascript, Architecture and design, The fundamentals of electrical circuitry using Minecraft's patented Redstone circuit system, Logic gates, multi-system mechanisms, Modding and more!     Basha Media Crew Only students from Basha Elementary can apply and participate. Application must be submitted to Mrs. Gutierrez prior to signing up Students will be expected to demonstrate all of the 6 pillars of character at all times as a member of the Bobcat Broadcast staff. All technology that is used by the students will be respected and handled with care. Students & Parents are responsible for any damage incurred to the equipment as caused by inappropriate or negligent student behavior. Active attendance of weekly meetings and announcement duties is required to remain a member of the Media Program.
