Fall Afterschool Programs: Game Design and Animation with Scratch, Python & JavaScript: Embark on an unparalleled adventure with our Game Design and Animation Class - a unique, project-based learning experience that infuses the charm of storytelling with the power of coding. This course is meticulously designed to spark the inherent creativity in young minds and foster their innovative storytelling and game designing capabilities. Junior Alchemists: Chemistry for Kids- is designed to not only pique an interest in scientific inquiry, but to introduce students to a deeper understanding of its development and application. We allow them to see the basic principles of science in the world around them. The course is focused on a number of experiments; they are tons of fun, visually appealing, and can safely be reproduced at home for friends and family. Minecraft Coding and Design Studio: Minecraft isn't just the world's most popular game; it's also an excellent tool for teaching a wide array of subjects. At Athena, we've developed a project based approach to a variety of important topics using Minecraft Educational; our course will cover Personalized Game Design, Animation and storytelling, Programming in Python and Javascript, Architecture and design, The fundamentals of electrical circuitry using Minecraft's patented Redstone circuit system, Logic gates, multi-system mechanisms, Modding and more! Laptop, chromebook, or iPad required. Rentals can be provided for a $30 fee via Athena Coding. Hollywood Filmmaking: We'll guide you as you turn your idea into an amazing script, and then we'll help you bring it to life! All students are divided into production teams; together, they'll brainstorm their ideas, and then collaboratively draft a script with a part for everyone. As students work, we'll hold group workshops, where we help them with their script formatting, character design, dialogue and more! Then we move onto filming! Students will act out their own scripts, starring in the parts they themselves wrote. They'll also take turns behind the camera, shooting with iPads. We'll give guidance to students as they star in, film, and edit their movies with experienced advice on special effects and green-screen editing, shot composition and panning, lighting and sound effects. B.E.S.T. Sports Volleyball - Our B.E.S.T. coaching staff will teach Volleyball skills through fun and active drills designed to build confidence and excitement for the game. Players will learn the fundamentals of serving, digging, passing, setting, bumping, and more—all while staying active and having a blast! This program is fun for players of all skill levels!

Fall Programs: LEGO® Gizmos & Gadgets Too! Teach your LEGO bricks MORE cool new tricks in the LEGO Gizmos & Gadgets Too! after-school class! We took our most popular after-school class and designed tons of brand-new projects. We’ll still use LEGO and common things found around your house, like marbles, balloons, rubber bands, and more, to make exciting projects that are guaranteed to do something cool. Every class features a functioning model that teaches us STEM skills, plus we will practice problem solving, teamwork, and communication. Leave your LEGO at home; we’ll supply everything you need. No take-home projects. For students in grades K+. LEGO® Movie Makers! Tell a story! Be the star! Make your very own movies in this fun and exciting after school class! We will learn how to make Stop Motion Animation style short films featuring your favorite LEGO characters. Team up with your friends to tell a story and bring it to life. We’ll bring all the supplies you need, including LEGO parts, figures, and iPad tablets with movie making software. While we practice our skills, we’ll learn about the basics of storytelling and the science and history behind animation and movie making. Leave your LEGO at home, we’ll supply everything you need. No take-home projects. Festive LEGO® Creations! Create and share some holiday cheer with your LEGO bricks!- In this super-special, three-weeks-only LEGO® after-school class, we will explore the winter holidays celebrated here and around the world through special LEGO building projects. Projects will include exploring holiday icons and symbols, building holiday scenes, and building fun and silly holiday traditions. As a bonus, the class includes a downloadable at-home bonus activity for kids to build ornaments with family and friends at home! Leave your LEGO at home, we’ll supply everything you need. B4K LEGO Engineering: While exploring engineering, architecture, and physics, students will design and build motorized machines, catapults, race cars, and satellites out of LEGO® bricks, gears and axles all while developing problem solving and critical thinking skills. Our program explores architecture, engineering, technology, science, math (STEM) and history concepts to spark imagination and build self-confidence. Students can participate in multiweek sessions focused on exciting themes including Inventions, Space and Transportation… just to name a few! Piano Keyboard Class: A comprehensive Piano Course that uses favorite songs along with fun Music Theory activities to teach all the keyboard "elements" like Counting, Note Reading, Rhythm and much more. Fierce Spirit Cheer is a one of a kind after-school program focusing on the fundamentals of cheerleading while building the confidence of the youth today with a safe, positive environment. We provide structured, fun-filled classes to Elementary students ages 5 to 12. Fierce Spirit Cheer is dedicated to making this an exciting atmosphere for students to learn the sport of cheerleading. We have with each session exciting new material taught building fun, creative cheer, dance, stunts, and tumbling routines that are showcased for the final session Parent Performance. Classes begin right after school. Fierce Spirit Cheer focuses on the fundamentals of cheerleading. Just like any sport, athletes must start learning the skills at a young age if they plan on cheering at a high school or college level. Fierce Spirit Cheer takes students with no experience and those with experience. We work all skill levels into our tumbling routines, cheers & dances so that every student is actively involved. Fierce Spirit Cheer incorporates dances and cheers that are taught into amazing routines. Most importantly, we promote self-esteem, self-confidence, pride, and school spirit! Fierce Spirit Cheer is sometimes the first team experience these children have ever had and we want to make it their BEST experience! By teaching the proper techniques, students will gain the confidence and self-esteem to try out for high school, college, or even professional cheerleading one day! Yoga Meditation Fun!! - Teaching mindfulness to youth can create calm, level headed future leaders but who says we can’t have fun while doing it? This supportive introduction to Yoga and Mindfulness is designed for kids in grades PreK-12th. Participants enjoy access to fun, engaging classes that teach the basics of good health habits, mindful awareness, and positive perceptions. Through this session, participants practice breathing exercises, yoga poses, visualizations, relaxation activities, and we couldn’t call it fun without games! Extraordinary P.E. Activities: We provide a positive P.E. experience for children. These activities and games are designed to improve muscle coordination, flexibility, strength and endurance. Fall Programs: Magic Makers: Learn the Art of Illusion - Set the stage and prepare to dazzle! In this beginner-level magic class, students will explore the core principles of magic, including performance techniques and the art of misdirection. Throughout the course, students will practice their skills and prepare to showcase their newly learned tricks in a final magic performance. Jr. Crime Scene Detectives - Experience real-life application in Crime Scene Analysis. Become the center of the action as a CSI agent and conduct forensic science experiments. In the laboratory get ready to learn how to collect and perform analyses of evidence, record findings, and use critical thinking to find the culprit. Spring Program: Skateboarding Club: A time and space for first-time and experienced skateboarders to practice the skills of skateboarding while practicing the core characteristics of Push Forward’s SKATER Code: Safety, Kindness, Attitude, Teamwork, Expression, Respect. Skate Club provides opportunities for students to tap in to the benefits of skateboarding; such as exercise, balance, creativity, self-expression, problem solving, risk-assessment, perseverance, and confidence building. Helmets are 100% required for any form of participation in our program. Students are expected to bring helmets and if they do not have their own helmets day of, we will provide helmets. It will enhance the skill levels of those students who are already familiar with the fundamentals. Reach Training Academy: Our unique year-round program is designed to help student-athletes achieve their goals in becoming a better basketball player, dramatically improving your basketball IQ while increasing your speed, strength, and quickness. We focus on skill development through drills and real game situations, giving the athletes all the tools they will need to get ready for the next level. All classes are non-refundable. STEM Softball: Students will windmill through and understand the science, math, and technology behind the game, such as: force and energy, advancements in equipment, and the math behind scoring a game. STEM Baseball: Students will have the green light to learn about the science behind the game using the double-play combination of cognition and physical activity. STEM Lacrosse: Students will use the game of lacrosse as a real-life application as critical thinkers, collaborators, and problem solvers on the field. STEM Football: Kickoff great new methods of learning using the game as the real-life application to drive STEM and physical literacy. STEM Volleyball: The STEM Volleyball program serves up STEM-based activities using volleyball gameplay, along with recent technological and engineering advancements that have enhanced the game.
